"Orange #3" Scrape and rebuilds are a common approach among franchisees whose existing buildings are reaching their useful life span. In reusing the existing sites, the architect is faced with placing newer buildings with drive-thrus on sites that were meant for the smaller buildings of the past. This problem calls for some creative solutions. Century Fast Foods had just the site. Their former building was an old Pup-n-Taco conversion. In order to maximize the site FCA had to modify an L50 prototype and reduce the square footage to balance the building area with the available parking. Creative planning on the inside yielding only three seats less than the L50, while reducing the overall square footage by 300 square feet. The outside massing was layered with an additional colonnade that gave the building a larger presence.
